About Existential Practice

What is existential-phenomenological practice?

As a philosophical practice, existentialism enables people to elaborate and discover personal meaning within the limitations and paradoxes of human existence. By exploring personal worldviews, emotions, anxieties, values and beliefs we gain valuable insight into the choices we make.

As a philosophy-in-action, existentialism acknowledges and works with the complexities of the human inter-relationship and can be of great benefit to anyone who works with people; whether as psychologist, psychotherapist, counsellor, supervisor, social worker, leader, manager or coach.

The existential-phenomenological approach is about how we each uniquely interpret and make meaning of self, others and the world. By definition, there is no definitive method or particular set of skills. Each practitioner develops their own distinctive perspective and continues to learn, be challenged and additionally rewarded along the way.

As the fundamentals of existential philosophy concerns itself with what it is to be human; the concepts, ideas and approach are easily integrated into other theoretical models . Indeed, it enriches and adds depth to other perspectives. Hence, the workshops on offer reflect the breadth of its application across the fields of counselling, psychotherapy, leadership, coaching and supervision.
